Reimagine your health by targeting the gut microbiome

Scientific understanding of the gut microbiome has grown exponentially

Technological advancements in bacterial DNA sequencing have led to a boom in microbiome research, enabling the identification of how keystone bacterial strains function in the gut to impact health throughout the body.

AKKERMANSIA MUCINIPHILA

A highly targeted strain that can only be found in Pendulum products. Akkermansia is considered a "keystone" strain for supporting gut health. It supports gut lining integrity as well as digestive health and body composition.

CLOSTRIDIUM BUTYRICUM

Naturally found in the human gastrointestinal tract, this strain is named for its ability to produce high amounts of the short-chain fatty acid butyrate. It has been associated with supporting digestion and immune health.
Pendulum Exclusive

CLOSTRIDIUM BEIJERINCKII

This strain produces the short-chain fatty acid butyrate, which helps the body process sugar and nourish the lining of the gut.
Pendulum Exclusive

ANAEROBUTYRICUM HALLII

This is another strain known to to support the production of the short-chain fatty acid butyrate as well as supporting the normal, healthy processing of sugar. It also supports a healthy gut lining.

BIFIDOBACTERIUM INFANTIS

This strain supports the breakdown of a range of foods and produces the intermediate molecules that are used by the three butyrate-producing strains we have. It also helps support a healthy gastrointestinal tract.

STATE OF THE ART DELIVERY CAPSULE

Metabolic Daily is encased in a plant-based, acid-resistant, delayed release capsule, so that the strains get through the stomach acid and to the gut microbiome where it can do its job.

Live vs pasteurized bacteria

  • Breaks down fibers in the gut

  • Colonises the gut

  • Supports postbiotic production in the colon

  • Contains beneficial bacterial components

  • Live
    Akkermansia

  • Pasteurized
    Akkermansia

Live Akkermansia: the gold standard in probiotic formulation

Only live Akkermansia can consume mucin and stimulate goblet cells to produce new mucin to maintain gut barrier integrity.

Only live Akkermansia can work with consumed fiber and polyphenols to colonize the gut.

The majority of studies that identify health-supporting benefits of Akkermansia in humans have looked at live bacteria; therefore, many of the mechanisms observed in live Akkermansia are not transferable to pasteurized bacterium.

Pasteurized/dead Akkermansia: limited, one-time benefit

Pasteurized Akkermansia does not enable the mucin regulation process for maintaining gut barrier integrity.

Pasteurized Akkermansia does not provide the important interactions and molecules produced through the synergy of diet and live beneficial microorganisms.

Amuc_1100, an outer-membrane protein of Akkermansia, is one of the only extracellular vesicles (EVs) mentioned in studies observing pasteurized Akkermansia; however, it retains only partial stability with pasteurization. Other heat sensitive enzymes found in live Akkermansia are not functional post pasteurization.
